Happy faces of 10 yr and 13 yr brother and elder sister of same family after both eyes Cataract surgery after more than 5 yrs of blindness life at very remote area of Mahabharat Rural Municipality(known as karnali region of Kavre District)
Prakash Ghising, who was unable to recognize his relatives and neighbors due to blindness in both eyes, is amazed that he can now see clearly. He is from Sanopokhara, Mahabharat Rural Municipality-3, located in the remote hills of Kavrepalanchok, said that he has regained his sight after many years.He used to recognize people only by their speech when they came close to him and spoke to him, seeing only a little of what was nearby. Having spent 11 years like this, he was overwhelmed with joy after seeing his eyesight again after surgery at an eye camp organized by Khudkilo Nepal in the village.”I am very happy to have gained a new life from the eye camp conducted in Ghisanggaun after losing my eyesight two years ago,” he said. “Now that I have my sight, I am happy to be able to see and be seen by everyone in my village, neighborhood, friends, and mountains.”
Not only Prakash, but also Didi Sushmita Ghising was in the same situation. A student in grade 6 in the village, she said that she could only see very close objects and could not see anything far away, but she got a new life from the eye camp. She said that although she could walk around during the day, she was forced to walk with the help of others at night, but she was able to see well after the surgery. She had lost her eyesight two years after birth.‘Even though we were told to go for eye treatment after losing our sight, we were not able to get treatment due to lack of funds,’ said Sushmita. ‘After the treatment at the camp that came to the village, I have finally been able to see everything.’
